Man, 63, seeks pleasant lady for friendship and fun - East Sussex

Hello,
Basically, I am separated and am look for a likeminded soul who is based in England, for friendship and fun. I like to do all the normal things, read, eat out, cook, go for walks, visit museums see movies etc. (But not necessarily in that order!) People in some ads tend to describe themselves in glowing terms but when you meet them in person you think, 'but I thought you said you were sensitive, kind and had a sense of humour?' Well, my point is obviously we all have these attributes, but some people just have these in greater quantity than others. I guess I'm in the middle, but this might be typical. I am a creative person, I like art, painting, writing and playing music (on the piano and some guitar). Oh and I'm retired. From my photo you will see that I still have a head of hair but lately I've put on some weight. So I'm presently working on that. (Apparently wheat is the enemy.) I'm sorry to say that I am not keen on children and would like to meet someone who does not have them under 18. Of course if they're all grown up that's a different story. I live in merry old Sussex and live within a mile or so of the churchyard where 'bosie' is buried, the former friend of Oscar Wilde! Actually not many locals seem to know that.
Did I say I was retired? Ah yes a few lines up. Well, I fill my days doing creative stuff and pottering about. I have a grown-up daughter who visits once a month and everything in the garden is lovely, well to a certain extent!
I don't drink or smoke. I don't have strong political views. I am not an aggressive type and don’t believe in trying to control others. However, I would tolerate drinking and smoking in others, and would expect mutual respect, and generally nice behaviour.
Before I go just to say a few words about dating sites. They're too costly by far. One charges 3 quid just for a message. So I thought I'd try this.

I can spot scammers from a mile away, so please no long letters in stilted English about how much you love me when you haven’t even met me, and how much you treasure honesty above everything else, and no photographs of Kelly Brook please. I can do a reverse image search and spot the phonies a mile away.
